Architecture
Indian architecture is a rich amalgam of various architectural
styles, wherein the influences of various regions and dynasties,
find due expression. With the Islamic style concentrating
only on monuments and the Hindu style being more religious,
thematically, Indian architecture, is indeed, a celebration
of the creativity of the unsung artisans who dedicated their
lives to bring to life such wondrous pieces of enviable beauty.
India boasts of a myriad of architectural delights such as
the majestic Taj Mahal, the temples of Southern India, the
Jain temples and the Buddhist monasteries, to name a few. |

Excavations
In India, there are quite a few sites that speak volumes
of the ancient Indian culture. Kalibangan, the ancient
site of Indus Valley Civilization, is a treasure trove
of archaeological findings. Udaygiri in south central
Orissa, has several Jain and Buddhist rock cut caves
and Khajuraho, the historical town and a famous tourist
attraction is famous for its sculpted temples of Shiva. |
Forts
Imposing forts and magnificent palaces of India, the
eloquent reminders of a bygone era, are inherent parts
of our rich cultural heritage. The amalgam of totally
diverse cultural traditions is truly evident in the
innumerable, strongly built forts and palaces. India
was once a medley of princely kingdoms, where feudal
traditions still carry on amidst forts and palace hotels.
Jaipur, Jodhpur, Jaisalmer and Bikaner in the state
of Rajasthan were stronghold of hill forts and series
of palaces. Mysore in Karnataka also has a prodigality
of palaces and engaging Havelis. The Mughals in Northern
India have given to India several fascinating forts

Indian monuments represent one of the most prominent
facets of the multi-faceted India. An architectural
feat in itself, each monument is a strikingly splendid
specimen of incredible artistry, shrouding a sense of

marble, the spellbinding Taj Mahal; or the red stone
