The city is famous for the Dwarkadheesh temple or Jagat
Mandir. Dwarka has fine stretches of beach and though crowded
by pilgrims, one can always find quiet spots too. Large
number of birds could be seen on the coast as shore birds
gather in large numbers along the coast.
Beyt Dwarka:
Okha, north of Dwarka is a jetty, from where one can get
ferries for Beyt Dwarka, which is an island covered with
temples, white beach, coral reefs and extensive marine life.
Dolphins and porpoise can be seen surfacing to breathe;
sea turtles, octopus, starfish, sea urchins etc. inhabit
the beach.
Other Attractions:
About 30 kms from Dwarka is the famous pilgrim-centre
of Vaishnavas. Here we have Rancchodrai Temple, Devaki Temple
and Temples of Chief Queens of Krishna, Mahaprabhuji Bethak,
Bala Hanuman and Shankh Talav are other attractions.
How to Get There
Rail:
The place is accessible by rail from Jamnagar. Dwarka receives
trains from Bombay.
Road:
City bus transport is available or various city sightseeing
buses are available from Porbandar and Junagadh.
